quick update

Hey ya'llllll
Thought I wold quickly update before I leave for school!
Went to my first internship yesterday at Cirque d'hiver (a real circus!!!)
It was for a hair show hosted by Parisian stylist Michel Dervyn! We worked under the chief makeup artist, Audrey B and it was quite an experience!
The circus backdrop was truly magical, I think I am more excited about having been inside a real, old circus than doing the job!
They fed us there...and WOW...I had cookies (pepito!!) and drip (AH!!) coffee alllllllllllll morning and then lunch was pasta and salad (no one ate the salad) and a dessert bar (I had the most incredible apple pie..I hate cooked fruit and the apples tasted like FRESH apples).
I nearly passed out from all the food. It's been awhile since I had real food (besides the food my roommate graciously cooks a couple times a week). The coffee was the highlight of the day....

Anyways, I will update with pictures when I get back from school ! Hope you had a great weekend, bon matin! xx

getting sick :(  but a few things I learned in the 3 weeks I have been in Paris:

-it never really rains, just drizzles and immediately gets sunny
-people are big on salutations "bonjours" "au revoirs" "bon appetits" and it's really charming :)
-harem "carrot" pants are a must
-pardon=excuse me excusez moi=sorry contrary to what my guide book says.
-b.o. galore
-baguettes
-new coffee terminology
-french like their bling bling
-how to wrap my scarf...the cool way
-can't live without carbs
- & that I am REALLY, REALLY short....closer to the ground than ever!

morning

Seriously, the weather could not be any more gorgeous!! I'm sitting in front of the window...the breeze is divine!
I woke up with my first hangover in Paris! Haha, I didn't even drink that much, but maybe it's because I don't drink red wine usually and I've been drinking it more here!
Today we (my roommates & I) are going to St. Michael (sp? looks funny) which is only a few stops from our apartment. There's a lot of cafes and galleries there so I'm excited to finally get in on some Parisian action! It's also home to Notre Dame, so maybe we'll get to see it better! (the last time I saw was through the window of a bus!)
I think my bangs need some professional help. They're like too blunt, but I really want to save my money, so that will have to wait.
I seriously am a starving artist here in Paris! It's really funny, but fun at the same time! Save, save, save! So when I actually do splurge (drinking at cafes, ice cream, sweets, junk food)  it's sooooooooo sweet!
I wonder if I've gained any weight? I eat bread everyday---something I didn't do much of back home! My clothes feel a little looser, but I think I actually need to workout more...!!

thirsty thursday

the view outside my window today, 7 pm.
the rain is so odd (but im not complaining) here...when it rains it's like drizzle on and off..

so i'm drinking the languedoc wine i bought last friday and it's kind of strong so i put some diet coke in it cause i saw it on housewives of new jersey...it's good!

i'm slowly realizing that i am living in an amazing city. i got to do some eye shopping around opera (galerie lafayette, printemps)
zara was a shit show so many damn people...even if i wanted to buy something it's just too crazy and i didn't even want to entertain going into h&m!!

the first makeup "exam" went well!! there are some things i wish i did a little better, but i'm happy with the results! :)

so i totally missed out on fashion's night out paris and i'm totally missing out on NYFW!!! SO JELLY OF YOU ALLLLLLLLLLLLL that get to be there!!! have fun!!

I wish I had the energy (more like time...school is so time consuming and intense!) to write here everyday after school. So many odd things happen to me everyday..!
Yesterday was the metro workers strike. Apparently they do this often. My way home after school took 2 1/2 hours. I almost passed out and I have never been smooshed into a train or bus..seriously sardines in a can style. wow.

School is getting better, but sometimes it seems unfair that the students who know French get a complete explanation where as we (English speakers) get a reduced version and a majority of the time is spent trying translate the English version. Alas, all the teachers are gracious in translating, especially the special effects teacher who translates for us everyday and makes it fun! Her accent is soooo cute and we laugh off a lot of mistranslations! I know it must not be easy for her as a teacher to be corrected, but she does it with grace and a big smile! Merci!

I try to let my loneliness consume me...people don't understand why I would be sad in PARIS, but they should try and come live here not knowing any French or the culture! But I must say I have adapted extremely well for being here a week and not even having a phone! :) *pat on the back*

When I walk around in Paris I still can't believe what I'm seeing. I know I'm here alone, my friends and family aren't here...but at the same time everything seems so natural? Weird.

Anywhooooo I really should be sleeping right now! We have our first makeup "exam" tomorrow!!!!!

I cut my bangs today....by myself! My mom would freak!

sunday

everything is like closed on sunday! I barely made it in time to the market to buy some ice cream (just a 'lil treat). now I'm  just sitting in my bed internetting as usual.

I miss my own routine back and home mostly because I miss my family, friends & and the ability to fully communicate in english

last night blue, sophie (my roommates) and I (they call me "min") went to meet blue's friend adrianna for a drink at this place called experimental drinks. lol. it reminded me of chicago/newyork bars but it was super tiny. probably the size of my living room! I had this drink...no clue what it really was (something along the lines of a caphrina) but it gave me a good buzz (for 11 euros holy shittt. haha) we went home after that so it was a chill night. I noticed that a majority of the people sit at the cafes and enjoy their beer or wine or food which I want to try soon! my brother is coming in a few weeks, so I'm excited to see him, but sad that I'll have school everyday! GUH.

so what will I do today? Thinking about either walking to parc sceux or taking the train to notre dame or luxemborg. or maybe I'll sleep cause I haven't been sleeping much and tomorrow is my first full day of school!!

Miss you guys, I'm so lonely! I wonder when it will go away!
